چکیده
Ewe deaths affect the productivity and profitability in sheep farming systems have potential animal welfare market perception implications. Internationally, there is scant data on timing causes of ewe extensive grazing systems. There no published literature incidence risk factors associated with casting (ewe late gestation accidentally immobilised, often dorsal recumbency). This study, undertaken using a cohort 1789 ewes New Zealand farm, reports production parameters for through an almost two-year period, along death during both peripartum periods. occurred throughout years but were most frequent (pre-lambing to mid-lactation) period. Casting was commonly identified cause years, responsible approximately quarter third annual mortality. Few or identified. In conclusion, period high-risk time (and, by extension, will also contribute lamb perinatal mortality). extensively grazed flocks where events occur, it recommended that all are monitored daily

Feeding and Managing the Ewe Flock: A New Watch
The number of lambs sold per ewe mated in the breeding flock has a considerable impact on sheep operation profitability. This depends primarily on fertility, prolificacy (# of lambs), and lamb survival, mothering ability, milk production of the ewe and lamb growth rate. Optimal reproduction does vary by environment and management system – some sheep operations don’t want a lambing rate over 200...

This report describes an outbreak of purulent mandibular and/or maxillary osteomyelitis caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a sheep flock located in the Khuzestan province, Iran. Jaw bones of almost 100 out of 500 mature sheep in a flock became severely deformed with a variably sized firm swelling, without any signs of inflammation in the surrounding soft tissues. The affected animals showed an...

BACKGROUND Immunisation coverage in New Zealand is lower than what is necessary to prevent large epidemics of pertussis. Primary care is where most immunisation delivery occurs. General practices vary in their structure and organisation, both in a general sense and specifically with respect to immunisation delivery. AIM To identify the structural and organisational characteristics of general ...
